Google AI Generated Landing Page Patent Is Limited To Shopping & Ads

There has recently been a fair bit of drama about Google’s patent about generating landing pages instead of sending users to websites.

Google Is Not Replacing Sites With Landing Pages

  • E-commerce sites
  • Product listing pages
  • Retail landing pages
  • Paid search environments
  • Conversion-focused commercial websites

“In some instances, the landing pages may be difficult to navigate, which can reduce the user experience. For example, a user may struggle to navigate a landing page to purchase a product when the landing page has a user interface that is not efficiently designed for usability and engagement.”

Ranking in Google’s top 10 is a weaker indicator of being cited in AI Overviews than it was last year, according to an updated Ahrefs analysis.

The study examined 863,000 keywords and 4 million AI Overview URLs. It found that 38% of cited pages also appeared in the top 10 results for the same query. In Ahrefs’ previous version of this study from July, that number was 76%.
